Closer Look Lecture Series

The School of Creative Arts (SOCA) presents a diverse group of artists, art historians and critics in its Closer Look Lecture Series. This series engages the Fort Wayne community and the tri-state region in the analysis of specific art forms and artists in a variety of mediums.

All Closer Look lectures and performances are free to the public.

Denise Stewart-Sanabria will be creating a gallery installation for her exhibition – VIRTUAL REALITY. She is known for her larger-than-life-size, figure drawings created with charcoal on birch plywood. Each drawing is self-standing which creates a juxtaposition between both 2-D and 3-D space. She will fill the gallery with numerous figures creating a social narrative between the viewing audience and her installation. This exhibition is sponsored by 3Rivers Federal Credit Union.

Closer Look Lecture: Elizabeth Ernst

The Contemporary Photography: The Visual Narrative exhibition will display several contemporary photographers that focus on narrative as a theme in their work. Artists include:Julie Blackmon, Elizabeth Ernst (featured artist), Lori Nix, Robert and Shana ParkeHarrison, Doug Prince, Gregory Scott. Each artists bends the technical aspects of photography to aesthetically create unique works with a visual narrative. Photographer Martina Lopez will show work in the Goldfish Gallery. This exhibition is in partnership with the Catherine Edelman Gallery, Chicago.
