The Pre-Art Therapy program offered by the School of Creative Arts (SOCA) at the University of Saint Francis will provide you with the foundation to pursue a career in art therapy. Registered art therapists must earn a master’s degree and this program meets the requirements for admission to graduate Art Therapy programs. According to the U.S. National Bureau of Labor Statistics, a growth of 14 to 19 percent in the art therapy field is expected over the next 10 years.
This exciting program blends a solid curriculum in the studio arts with courses in psychology, sociology and social work. Together, these courses will prepare you for graduate study in Art Therapy and other related post-graduate fields. At USF, we believe in education beyond the classroom and facilitate this through internships and service projects offered by SOCA and the School of Professional Studies, which houses both the Psychology and Social Work programs.
USF is recognized for producing exceptionally talented alumni. You will work closely with faculty in small classes, resulting in tremendous growth, and choose a focus in one of seven art concentrations that mirror those in the Studio Art program. You can choose to concentrate in ceramics, crafts, drawing, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture, or a combination of multiple areas.
